The MK Virus (エムケーウイルス Emu-Kē Uiruesu?), also known as the Male Killer Virus (メールキラーウイルス Mēru Kirā Uirusu?, English localization: "Man-Killer Virus"), is an artificial virus[1] that kills males[2] and the catalyst of events of World's End Harem.

The true cause of the MK Virus is unknown, but it has been discovered the MK Virus was artificially constructed with a formula.[1][3] If one catches the virus, the infected's cells will die, their skin will turn into purple and will continuously vomit blood. After three days, the infected would succumb to death. The MK Virus is contagious due to being an airborne disease.[1]

In 2040, the MK Virus broke out and within around three months, the virus spread throughout the world, killing every male.[4] The first victim of the MK Virus in Japan was an elderly man near a hot spring.[5] Due to the virus, nearly every country fell into anarchy.[4]
